Enrico Petretto, PhD

I work on the regulation of WWP2 in fibrosis in important organs like the heart and the kidney, and on anti-fibrotic drug discovery.

The focus of my research is Brugada Syndrome and Sudden Death. I use integrative bioinformatics analyses of clinical and multi-omics data for the identification of genetic determinants, pathways and biomarker signatures underlying Brugada Syndrome and related cardiovascular disorders.

I work on Whole-Genome Sequencing  (WGS) analysis in diabetic nephropathy and single-cell transcriptomics in kidney disease. I am part of The Diabetes Study in Nephropathy and other Microvascular Complications (DYNAMO) project, aimed at improving understanding of diabetic kidney disease and reducing its prevalence in Singapore by 30% over five years.

I am a computational biologist, experienced in high-throughput -omics data analysis and integration. I am working closely with Prof Karl Tryggvason’s lab, to study the differentiation process of cardiomyocytes and photoreceptors using single-cell transcriptomics in laminin cultured cells.

I’m working on the characterization of a novel E3 ubiquitin ligase, WWP2, identified by our  group at the level of different tissues an using various in vitro and in vivo fibrosis models.

I aim to understand the fibrogenic pathways regulated by WWP2. Hopefully this could lead to the development of better antifibrotic treatments.

I am working on single-cell transcriptomics of Alzheimer's disease, cardiac, and kidney fibrosis.

I am using Machine Learning (ML) to extract biological processes underlying single-cell RNA sequencing data and build models to predict individual patients' outcome.

I’m studying long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulated by Wnt signaling in cancer, using computational and CRISPRi screen approach. 

I am an incoming PhD student with prior experience characterizing the epi-mutation rate of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and developing bioinformatics pipelines. I am interested in integrative single-cell sequencing analysis, with a focus on WWP2 and its role in lung fibrosis. 

My research project is on Small Open Reading Frames (smORFs). In particular, I am interested in Wnt-regulated smORFs in pancreatic cancer.
